One of the Golf Surgical Center nurses will contact you the day before your surgery to confirm any time changes to your scheduled surgery as well as provide you with pre-operative instructions Please plan to arrive at the Center one hour before your surgery.

Required Testing Before Surgery

  • Pre-operative laboratory test are not required unless your managing physician requests them.
  • If any pre-operative tests are done, you must ensure a copy of the results are forwarded to the Center or your surgery may be cancelled.
  • You will be seen by an anesthesiologist (if you require these services) on the day of surgery.
  • Please bring a list of medications you take regularly.
Before the Day of Surgery
  • If you get a cold, sore throat, or have symptoms of illness within two days of your scheduled surgery, please call your surgeon.
  • The Center will call you the day before your surgery to confirm your appointment.
  • DO NOT EAT OR DRINK, INCLUDING WATER, AFTER MIDNIGHT THE DAY OF YOUR SURGERY
Your Surgical Day
  • REGISTER AT THE FRONT DESK AT LEAST ONE HOUR BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED TIME
  • Be prepared to provide us with your insurance card and a photo ID.
  • Please bring a friend or relative who will remain at the Center for the duration of your stay. A parent or legal guardian must accompany a patient under 18 years of age. If you require anesthetics, you will not be allowed to drive.
  • Do not wear make-up, nail polish, and jewelry or bring any other valuables with you to the Center. Golf Surgical Center will not be responsible for lost items.
  • If you wear contact lenses, bring a container.
  • Bring or wear comfortable clothing to wear after your surgery.
  • If your child is the patient, do not forget a favorite toy, comforting blanket or pacifier. You may even want to bring a bottle for the child to have after surgery.
  • Arrange to have a responsible adult take you home from the Center and stay at home with you for the first 24 hours after surgery.
  • If your child is the patient arrange for an additional adult driver for the ride home so you can be available to cuddle your child.
  • If you are the patient and have children, please make arrangements for child care at home. It is not advisable for children to wait in the Center while your surgery is taking place.
  • There are no dining facilities at the Center.
Recovery

At Golf Surgical Center the recovery is divided into two phases
PHASE I immediately follows surgery for all anesthetics except local. Patients are closely watched by a team of experienced medical professionals for approximately one hour.
PHASE II allows your family to join you during your continued recovery. Your nurse will give you instructions to be followed at home, as well as prescriptions that can be telephoned ahead to your local pharmacy. In this way, they will be ready for you to pick up on your way home.

Financial Arrangements

  • A few days before your surgery, a registration form will be sent to your home. You will be asked to provide insurance information. Please return this form as soon as possible and/or a phone call from you will expedite the pre-registration process. If you prefer to call with this information, please call (847) 299-CARE and ask for our Patient Accounts Department.
  • Your charges will include supplies, drugs, and materials used during your stay. If you have insurance, you only need to pay co-insurance and deductible amounts.
  • On the morning of surgery, please bring your insurance card and claim form. The Center will bill your insurance company for you.
  • If you do not have medical insurance for the procedure, payment can be made by check, cash or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express).
  • There may be separate charges for which you will be billed later. These include fees for diagnostic tests ordered by your surgeon, your surgeon's fee, and fees for other professional services, such as anesthesiology, radiology, and pathology, if administered.
